Well, I'm his Mom - of course I would say this. But truly he is a

wonderful son who had had an incredibly difficult year and has

overcome so much with a devastating foot injury last Fall. We

thought things were going well, but circumstances changed and he is

facing another surgery. I know he will come to terms with it and forge

forward with the best attitude he can muster. A long road of recovery

follows this surgery as well. This image was taken on Mother's Day. I

called out his name and this is the smile that touched my heart. A

few images make up this composition. I am not very good at

portraiture but love and enjoying Digital challenges had me working

on this one. I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for any suggestions and

visits, :) Gail

Gail,

You are fortunate to have such a loving and good looking son. I know he has his troubles now but as the very old adage observes, "This too shall pass!"

Just hang in there. By the way, a very nice photo!

Thank you for your encouragement Warren. Jess is a member of PN now but with receiving the news that he has to have another corrective surgery - well he has been very busy preparing for it I imagine. He will have to keep his foot raised and not put any weight on it for months, so I have encouraged him to get his Photos organized (he's been busy doing that) and to also think of a way that he can prop up his leg in order to use his desktop computer once he feels up to even going on it. He does have his new baby girl to keep him company and I'm sure she will offer up many smiles and laughter that will ease the pain a bit.  I know he will get through this fine. It's just a bit scary at first. He loves to be outside and on his feet working.  But I know this time of recuperation will make him even stronger just as this last 9 months has.

He does have a great 'spirit' and his 'hugs' are the best!  He is a very talented young man who I am very proud of. Thanks for those kind words Vlad.

Many thanks for your thoughts shared. Our children no matter how old they are seem to be the 'apples of our eyes'. When he was a toddler he had blonde hair so blonde it was almost white and these beautiful blue eyes as well. You turn around and they are grown with children of their own.

I am sure things will go well for Jess. Yes it is scary to face when you have already gone through a long surgery and recoup - but if things have to be fixed - they just do. We all have our ups and downs - struggles that we think we will never overcome - but we try to stay positive and get through them. Usually we are made stronger for it. Sometimes we say  - Why me? It is so unfair?  And then we realize that 'Why not me?' so many go through so much worse. While that is not much comfort at the time, we have to face things and decide to make the best of what ever happens in the future. All we can do is follow the instructions the Dr.'s give us and try to do what we've been advised and strive to move forward and recover. He is Brave and Strong and through it all, will come out the other side with a Positive outlook to make the best life he possibly can. Thanks so much for your encouragement on his behalf Patsy, it is much appreciated.

Great picture Gail. I'll bet Jesse even likes it and that's the true test of a portrait photograph. Hope everything works out on that foot and he's back to pounding on those drums again.

All the best.. Brent

Hi Brent, I sent this to Jess but I did not hear back from him. BUT my daughter posted it on FB and I think most people liked it.  Then again, Jess is usually a bit tardy in getting back to me. I hope he likes it. I think when you have a passion or music, you will find any means possible to be able to play your instrument of choice.  I'm sure he will figure it out! I think he set them up 'opposite' to his usual way he plays for a bit - he seemed to be doing OK. Perhaps he will keep at it and be comfortable with it that way. Thanks so much for your input Brent.

Dear Gail, thanks for sharing your wonderful pics, very glad Jess is getting the best medical help. He will make it, I will say prayers for him. God bless him. Abrazos, Mari

Thank you Mari for those encouraging thoughts and best wishes for Jess. Once he sets his mind to 'deal' with something, while he may have the odd down day like most of us, he usually tries his best to get well. He is not looking forward to a second surgery (don't think any of us would) but I am pretty sure he knows things could be much worse. The fact that he will have one of the best Dr.'s in Canada reassures me and I remain optimistic.  I have watched a few TV Programs lately where people have gone through devastating injuries where they have not had as good a chance of recovery as Jess. They recovered with a Positive Attitude but these folks had much worse injuries to deal with. We never know why these things happen to us or those we love, but we have to have Faith that they will overcome.  :) my friend, I appreciate you so much!
