I have always loved Gerbera Daisies. When they are thirsty, they

tend to have this kind of 'posture'. They remind me of a very, very,

sad or exhausted soul who could just use a friend or two for support.

When I take care of ones like this, give them a good drink of water

and support the stem, the is an unusual feeling of satisfaction that

comes over me. Yes, it is only a flower, but to me represents so

much more. So often we experience a friend or even a stranger who

appears overwhelmingly 'fatigued'. Quite often we don't even need to

say much at all. For them to know we are 'just there' when they are

in this delicate state is all that really matters to them - the

reassurance someone cares enough to 'stay'. Someone who is not

so busy in their own world that this simple act of kindness is no

sacrifice on their part. There is happiness to be experienced when

we can be a 'blessing' to another human being. We don't have to

look very far to find someone who could use a friend. A friend who is

willing to stay close by until the weight they are bearing lessens and

they can once again look towards the sunlight. (hope you enjoy this

one, kindest regards, Gail)

Very simpatico Gail. I like the painterly feel of your PP and as always your introduction is well written and an uplifting moment. The flower and bird share a moment so to speak, only you could pull that off. Take care.

Best Always,

Holger

I always enjoy hearing what you think of any of my compositions.  When I do one of these I realize it is not everyone's 'cup of tea'. But when reading your positive words I am truly encouraged. Sincere thanks for your visit Holger. I really enjoyed your 'Dinosaur Trees' and do hope we can visit that place in Sarasota some time soon!

You could not have paid me a nicer compliment Michail.  We all need to 'loose ourselves' in something that brings a 'calm' to our mind. I am glad that I was able to provide you a 'medium' that brought about that feeling. I wish you the very best in the days to come Michail, you and your family and all those you care deeply about. It has been very stressful to hear the news these last few days. I hope somehow a peaceful resolution can be found for the country you love so much.

You appreciate beauty so much - especially flowers. It is amazing when people share the same appreciation for the beauty nature gives us. I am glad to have a friend who knows how important this kind of 'beauty' is in our lives.

Hi Gail, such a lovely story behind the composing of this wonderful work. The thought behind this and the overall sentiment,  composition and textures make this a special piece of art work! Best wishes. Sarah.

An astute emotive writing below this; I agree with your words

The beautiful colors of the petals pulled me in, but the subtle interplay between gerber daisy and swan melodically make this piece sing.  I love these daisies too and have a few green strong thick straws to support them when they appear in gifted flower arrangements, but instead of melancholy, for me the swan just makes this beautiful.  I love the composition.

Thank you so much for sharing those thoughts about this composition. When I worked in a flower shop we used those type of straw to hold up the Gerberas. Or at times we inserted a floral wire and threaded it ever so carefully up the stem through to the middle of the flower. That way the Daisy could be bent in whatever direction we wanted. It was useful to do it that way in Oriental style of design. I prefer the 'straws' myself. They are such cheerful flowers. I had bought a few this year to plant but they had some kind of fungus disease. But yesterday I went searching for a few more flowers and lucked out at Home Depot. They had brought in some really healthy ones which I planted this afternoon. Gerbera's are so hardy in the summer and love the sun! When I worked in the flower shop I didn't think they would be so hardy.

Sincere thanks for your thoughts shared. It is amazing what one can do for another when we really think of it. So many are in need of someone to just 'care'. I'm glad you liked this one!
