cyanatic 0 Posted August 24, 2015 Very well done, I think! The position of the structure at right, the woman, the man on the bench, and the horizon. I agree with Jack, this is well balanced and thoughtfully composed. Something else I like (and this may just be a personal thing) is that I get a feeling of place here. I do not know where this is, but somehow I get a sense of being there. The beach (or what I see of it here) appears more gravelly than sandy (or maybe this is not the true beach part of this location, but a gravel area before it... parking perhaps? The water, though ruffled by wind, does not appear to have any sizeable waves that one would expect along the Pacific or Atlantic coasts. The headland, or range of hills, in the distance makes me feel that this could be a very large lake, an inland sea, or a large bay or curve in a coastline. It feels like the Mediterranean or Adriatic (which I only know from photographs). This all combines to take me away from any areas I am familiar with and although the scene seems commonplace (people enjoying a beach on a sunny day), I feel as if I am in a slightly different world, far from home. It's a pleasant juxtapostion of the familiar and the unfamiliar... if any of this makes sense! Link to comment
kazimir 5 Posted September 8, 2015 Many thanks on this nice and elaborate comment...a small lesson on how to take look at a picture...this was taken on Adriatic sea, a town of Split - one of the town's beaches which was indeed graveled since there was a pretty muddy land...the land across the water is an island of Brac...All the best!!!
