How can these birds turn their heads like that without breaking their necks?  :-) I have to agree with Jack Mc Ritchie on his preference for the colour version of this bird.  For  me, the subtle colour differences in the birds feathers trumps the subtle tonal changes in this B&W one.  This one is by no means a deal breaker, I just give the edge to the other version.  After a likely too quick cruise through your folders, the apparent high quality of your folder thumbnails, in both B&W and colour,  encourage a deeper investigation when I have more leisure time on my hands.  See you then.  Best, Len.

Thank you Len for your comment. Must have got really flexible neck muscles for such a drastic pose. After comparing the BW and color versions, I also tend to like the color one better, mostly due to the warm colors and the subtle tones as you pointed out.

I think the black and white gives us that feeling of the harsh birds world. After all everyone and everything is a threat, still they survive.

Tony,

Thats a very interesting perspective, and a great way of looking at it. I guess its not very easy for this bird to survive in the harsh urban environment.
