Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted June 29, 2015 Larger view preferred. This image started out as a blah, hazy color image shot from the ferry between Vancouver and Victoria, BC. I have posted it for your view on how it fares as a B&W. I left the red in on the lighthouse because the image needed some "lift". Your comments are appreciated and valued. Larry Link to comment
phillips 0 Posted June 30, 2015 Larry-Nice job; the b&w is nicely exposed and the red gives it a real point of interest. My only question is what would you think of a tighter crop from the top and left sides of the image? Congratulations, Phil Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted June 30, 2015 I'm not generally a fan of selective color, but it works well here. Well done... Mike Link to comment
Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted June 30, 2015 Phil, Thanks for your comment and visit. Regarding the crop, it's an interesting thought. I am inclined to favor the wider angle view here to get the best scope of the curve in the water. All said, this isn't a great image, just an interesting benefit of B&W when color is poor. Thanks again. Larry Link to comment

Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted June 30, 2015 Mike. Hi, I am not a fan of selective color either, but like you, I thought it works here. The red is the only attention getting feature in the image. Thanks again. Larry Link to comment
alfbailey 1 Posted June 30, 2015 I agree with the previous comments, and the reason I think the selective colour works is because it isn't too obvious, it's subtle and to my mind proportionate to the scene.Best Regards Alf Link to comment
Larry_G1664882113 15 Posted July 1, 2015 Alf, Thanks for your visit and comment. Seeing the red as subtle and proportionate is an excellent way to describe the scene. I appreciate your insight. Larry Link to comment
