I, too, like the angle.  I find my eye being pulled off the image by the left side - the top of the chair and the people.  What if you considered cropping them away?  However, I find this a pleasant snapshot of a typical beach scene.

Quite honestly, Lynne, I think the convergence of the lounge chairs works better in the original.  But I do get your point about the distracting elements.
