Good to hear from you again.  This was taken at f5.6 with my 55-200mm kit lens @ about 7 or 8 ft, thus the shallow DOF.  Was a grab shot.  Luck is good.  This variety of sparrows is less skittish than most, allowing a closer approach before panicking & flying off.  This often works to our (photographers) advantage.  Best, Len.
