Cool. At first I couldn't tell if it was a painting or etching of some kind. The symmetry is amazing and I like the colors a lot. It's earthy and spiritual at the same time.

Fred, this image is a combination of three photographs. the salamanders were photographed on a white background and that image was mirrored horizontal. The edges are details from a border which I created by painting onto glass and using it as a stamp onto wet water colour paper. the background is a texture created by scuffing another image of splashed ink. I've been working on photographing the various reptiles and amphibians which live in my area and thought I would try doing something different with this one for the fun if it.

Very cool. A friend and I were talking about Hockney just yesterday, after he saw one of the Opera productions Hockney designed. One of the striking things about Hockney these days is his multi-media approach to things and his desire to consistently utilize new and different tools. It's impressive to me that you incorporate so many different talents and layers into a project like this, painting your own background and photographing it for instance. I think it takes the images to a very layered and textured place.
