A very lovely shot.  I would agree with Mehmet, the image is a bit dark overall, but I am unsure his crop truly improves upon the image.  Much depends on the artist purpose.  Is this an image of a lovely woman in a bare rough environment?  Or is this just an image of a lovely feminine form.  Personally, I see a visual comparison made between the facial, breast, and knee projections, and the peaks behind.  Mehmets crop tends to crowd those peaks, and totally removes the cloud sweep to the left, which is a true "Yang" to the models stretched body ("Ying") to the right.  These of course are only my opinions, other opinions will likely vary.

Best regards...

-Dave

I like the vista as a useful counterpoint to the nude form. An ode to the sun in a wasteland of sand and mountains. She has a mythic quality. Prometheus female tied to a rock comes to mind... I like the original crop personally. I wish you well. gs

Andrew.  Wonderful work as usual.  Your crop is definitely better.  I think the clouds are essential to feel of the image.  I do think that it is underexposed (i.e. dark) but that might have been the mood you were trying for.  The thing that I like about Mehmet's suggestion on exposure is that you can see her other arm and hand and I think this improves the comp.  If I was going to mess with the exposure, I would do it more selectively with some layers in PS or use the tools in NIK (if you have it).  Just my 2 cents worth and it is pretty fine as is.  All the best.  Dana...

Thank you all for the inspiring comments.

Mehmet,

Thanks a lot for taking time and creating a new version. This post processing was done by my model using Nik Silver Efex Pro. My version is a bit closer to yours. But I would not change the crop.

DL,

Sorry for a short comment but I tend to agree with you! As you can see my version is brighter.

Gerry,

Thank you very much for your interpretation. Since I often tend to look into ancient mythology I truly like you comparison.

Dana,

Thank you for the compliment. I tend to agree with you as well, as you can see from my interpretation. Yes I do have Nik collection and use it often.

Raymond,

Thanks a lot!

So many versions can be interesting, but what strikes me the strongest is the elegance of form and design of the picture, beautiful, bravo   .. I have seen prints in exhibitions with totally diferent renderings, they all have their merit or not according to different taste.

Andrew, I find this stunning work throughout all the presentations shown here. This is due to the skills of you and your model in the original image. Bravo!

Best Regards,

Peter

The fact that people are willing to spend time to 'alter' this image for comparison should tell you that it is a good photograph. I really can't say more than that.

Andrew. For the record, your version is great. the background and sky are much better. Always a fan. Dana...

And another just by way thought Andrew on your displayed technical skill, - If the sun is as high as I can see by her shadow, only way to suitably and evenly light etc, ie w/o doing a balance act with strobe or reflectors or scrims is to have the subject as you have facing straight up. And here if I got that part right is the happy strong result. My compliments once more. A standout.

Hi Pierre,

Thanks for your visit and comment. I truly appreciate Mehmet’s efford to point to a different solution but  beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, it is different solution and perhaps not better.

 Alberto,

Thanks.

John,

Thanks a lot for your comment. You have a very good point; personal perspective is crucial.  And this is what I love in your pictures. Your personal immaculate taste sometimes disregarding rules creates the best results..

Peter,

Thank you very much for your complement. Leeloo was very pleased with your comment as well.

David,

Thank you very much for your compliment.

Dana,

Thanks for commenting on my version. I very much appreciate the compliment. However it was a bit odd in the print. I compromised between all the suggestions and made yet another version that prints very well. It’s in Leeloo’s folder.

Anonymous,

Thanks a lot for the compliment. I wish I could thank you in person.

Gerry,

Thanks a lot for your compliment. Of course you are correct. Facing the sun is the simplest solution.  In this case I got some help from sun as well. The rock was super HOT!  This wonderful pose was a result of trying not to get ones ass burned!
