Pure perfection, technically and otherwise!
I was thinking of a school marching band. For me, the middle shadow, seeming to have no source, makes the shot. It's a lone voice, an outlier, and takes the photo deeper.
i like the magic of the ringleader Wolfgang is light up under the spotlight
Unlike others who replied, I have no immediate connections, except that your selective focus and the ray of light puts out one superstar amongst the crowd; the one that has its 15 minutes of fame (or more, who knows how popular he'll get?). The 5 dimmed in the background do make the perfect backdrop, they almost feel like lurking to jump forwards to get their moment in the spotlights.
Hi Wolfgang. Very well captured play of light and the composition of the red and white posts works really well. Great work. Best wishes. Sarah.
A beautiful composition, Wolfgang!
Fine work. First I was a little bit irritated about the shadow in the middle. But then I saw, it came from the reflection of a window.
stephanie, Jack, Drew, Pierre,
many thanks for your comments. While I consciously chose the time of the day to got out, there was surely some serendipity at work here: the light reflected from a window made the central post "glow" and cast this misfit shadow.
This picture has a bit of a "March of the Wooden soldiers" feeling about it. The more I look at it, the better I like and appreciate it. The way the light and shadows work here is subtle and fascinating, and the bright candy-cane appearance of the posts rivets my attention. That one central post seems to actually glow in the light.
