I really like the way you have composed and framed this shot. The sense of purpose and movement from the figure is really well communicated.  His path between the rows of trees and benches adds to the story and the bag holds a little mystery. 

I like the B & W tones too, but wonder if there might be a case for selective colouring of the man's coat. Not that it's absolutely necessary, the image great as it is, but the selective colour might highlight the main character a little more.

Very good composition and tones; a very well ordered picture. The man with his heavy raincoat and umbrella almost looks like he comes from another planet as he advances purposefully through the rain..

Thanks for taking the time to view and critique this image.  It's actually an incarnation of one I posted some time ago (during a previous visit to NYC).

 

Alf, your suggestion about selective color is intriguing.  I'll investigate further.
