Last Sunday while at my son Jesse's home, we all were entertained

by some neighbor's horses that decided to come visit us. Of course

the children and I coaxed them on. They were just young horses

and this one was quite inquisitive. It was a beautiful sunny day,

Mother's Day here in Canada. Another beautiful day yesterday, my

son Jesse and his fiancé Jen, (who were our hosts on Mother's Day)

welcomed their first child together into our world. Our new

granddaughter provided a bit of 'drama' that had Jesse very scared

for a bit, but soon all was well and he was holding young Layla

Evangeline Thorne while the Dr.'s tended to Mom. Mom and baby

are doing fine. Perhaps one day, young Layla will be in the reflection

of this young horse's eye!!! (your visits and thoughts shared are

always welcome! many thanks, Gail :)

Congratulations, Gail, and welcome to the world, Layla!

I like the idea of how we are reflected in another's eyes, or just the idea of reflections and vision a a theme.  Now wonderful that your son lives by horses.  I jealous.

Enjoy your new family addition

Beautiful image and story Gail! Congratulations on your new granddaughter! You will always have wonderful memories of that day! Such a beautiful horse; nice capture with lovely light and clear detail. I always find the eyes of a horse to be so engaging as they have a strong sense and intuition about their surroundings. Lovely work and again, congrats on the baby! Thank you for sharing. :)

Yes....their eyes hold a fascination for me. I know they can be as peculiar as people at times....perhaps because how they have been treated....but it is such a delight when you see young ones that are so full of 'wonder' just like a child. Many thanks for your kind wishes Trisha.

Yes, it is a fascinating idea - reality - Let's hope they are always good reflections :) Jesse's fiancé Jen - her Mom lives next door and she owns a horse. She kept it in the barn for awhile but has it in a Stable where she enjoys riding it and also takes Jen's daughter, Eden for Riding Lessons. I love taking images of horses, it is usually not always easy - some farmers do not like you 'hanging about their fences'. I can understand why.  We will enjoy her. It's been awhile since a wee one has been there for us to hold.

Hi Gail. Besides I like your pictures, I always enjoy the history that accompanies them. I imagine, if my neighbor visited me with horses ... a little strange around here. You're lucky to live in a place where you have as easy access to nature. In Lima I live in a district that is considered green and ecological ... La Molina, but still, it is not common to have horses around.

I congratulate you for the new family member and why, apparently, things are going well.

Warm Regards, dear friend.

Rosario.

Nice closeup though your rhetoric would likely find more resonance among those of the 'grandparent' demographic.  Proves to me that words are sometimes required to fully appreciate the picture though 1000 of them may be overkill.  :-)  My favourite of your three most recent posts.  Best, Len.  PS, CONGRATULATIONS!

Congratulations on the new baby. Layla is very lucky to have you and all the love of her family, this horse is beautiful, I can see his reflexion on the eye, they have the biggest eyes in nature. Great shot, amiga. Brava!

Yes, he is fortunate to have the horses next door. The barn with the Star in on their property. There are 3 red barns.  Jen's Mom has a horse and kept it in one of the barns that they are allowed to use, but now has the horse at a Stables. I found watching these four young horses to be so interesting. They stayed close together and kibitzed around in the sunshine. Youngster of all species seem to have that bit of 'playfulness' that we sometimes outgrow - hopefully we will not forget it entirely!! I like your reference to 'being reflected in someone's eyes. :)

Congratulations to your son Jesse and Jen. Lovely photo of dad and new baby Gail, it will probably be cherished more than the excellent image of the horses' eye, for its' emotional impact. It's a blessing, take care.

Warmest Regards,  Holger
