Thanks Mr. Mancil!

Thanks Holger!  ... I took this last Monday (I think) and yesterday when I came he's still there but about an hour later his parents screaming at something in the bushes and he's still wandering in the stream but afterward I could not locate him anymore even though his parents are still there. A bit sad ... of such a short life if may be 5 days! That to tell you any mature bird that you see is already a miraculous survivor.  :-)

Very fitting title! Cute, but vulnerable. We wish there would always be a positive outcome, but nature has no mercy.

Thanks Greg & Verena!  When they breed in the pond of the sanctuary it's a lot more stable but  some of these  are out in the creek and with the water up/down depending on water flow it's a lot more unpredictable along with predators around in the bushes. I no longer see the Black-necked Stilt parent yesterday and in they were replaced by a couple of American Avocet with 2 chicks. They are much more attentive and protective of their chicks and hope they will have a better outcome . Kind of remind me of people, some are better parents then others and some should never even breed, LOL!
