We spent Mother's Day at my son Jesse and his Fiance Jen's home.

they live on an old Dairy Farm and have several farms that back onto

their property. I had been taking images with my 100mm Macro Lens

and wanted to add a few more shots. The Macro Lens was not ideal

for this type of shot (re detail). I should have adjusted my Aperture so

that I would have had a slower shutter speed but it had started

raining and I just didn't want my lens to get wet. So I took a chance

on maybe getting an image. It is not a great landscape shot but I

figured I could use a few layers to see if I could come up with

something I can use for a card. The textures give it a bit of a Vintage

look perhaps. (any visits and comments are always appreciated,

many thanks in advance, Gail :)

Gail,

I love it, the texture is great and the ancient look works very natural. My compliments, regards,

Gail... Cool picture regardless but your Photoshop skills put it over the top. It seems to me that this is just the way a photograph of an old dairy farm should look.

I like the canvas like texture you have chosen Gail. It has a an old oil paint feel and the scene is certainly pleasant and nicely composed. You never know how things will turn out, in this case just fine I'd say.

Best Always,  Holger

The aspect gives by this texture gives indeed a feeling of old time and transforms this scene very much making it very attractive.A scene from middle of summer I think in almost harvest time. This way you work your photos is a very good example of creativity and how can be change an image. The vintage feeling is present when see this photo.

Thank you Radu. This image was taken on Sunday - view from the back of the farm house to a neighboring farm. the trees have just begun to get their leaves and the corn stalks from last year are plentiful. I imagine the farmer may let this field 'rest' this season.

Thanks Holger for your thoughts shared :) I was not sure just how to approach this image - but with a bit of experimenting this seemed to work out. I found out later in the day that I should always have my back pack with an extra lens or two with me at all times. Most important thing was that we had an enjoyable day.

I rarely do landscape but am determined to do more this Season. I tend not to toss images as quickly as I used to. Many thanks Brent for stopping by. I will be by later to view more of your beautiful Canyon shots. I was exploring the Pariah Outpost site (re your work as a Guide) last night. I can see how you have fallen in love with the Country and have not strayed far over the years.

Nicely composed and executed with your usual precision and expertise. This feels both vintage and contemporary so that sets up an interesting tension within the picture, It has a kind of 1920's feeling of modernist geometric forms, perhaps an imaginative projection of the farm of the future.

This beautiful image reminds me the first color photos made with the technique of Autochrome where several grains of potato starch were colored acting as filters, the result was a beautiful color photo with a grainy texture, ciao Giangiorgio

Hi Gail, very well thought out composition and post processing work. The texture you have used works so well, giving it a rustic well weathered look. Great work. Best wishes. Sarah.

I'm so glad you told me about that process. I have never heard of it before....really fascinating! I will look into it further!

It certainly has a vintage look - almost like in the days when they use to hand color black and white prints.  Very Good!
