This is one of the oldest churches in Barcelona and is dedicated to the two martyrs, Justo and Pastor, who were the subjects of veneration during the 4th century. However, much of the building is of later, Visigoth construction. Back in the days of Ramon Berenguer el Viejo (11th century), this parish church was used as a cathedral while the Romanesque cathedral was being built. The 14th century Gothic building work is typical of church architecture of the time.

Thanks for dropping in. Parts of the building date back to the 6th century..It is indeed a magnificent Church in which one can see layers of time and history. My wife and our six year old granddaughter were with me at the time and as soon as we entered the little one said: ' Where is God ?' ....-:).

I love History - so I was very pleased when you included the History of this place here.  It is amazing that these Churches still exist and I hope they do for some time. I admire your work with available light. I know I am not yet as knowledgeable and would find it challenging. Very nice work Dimitris. So beautiful.

Without history Gail we have no future...The perspective of the picture is not perfect , but it gives you a good idea of the space and character of this beautiful and magnificent place of worship. Thank you so much, my friend!.

You are right about History with regards to our Future. It also makes me more aware and saddened by what will be written in the History books about this time that we live in. If I ever have the opportunity to visit places such as this, I don't think my Camera would have much rest at all.

The layers of time in a place like this, launch the imagination. History should teach us mainly not to repeat the mistakes that people made in the past..but do we learn?.

History contains the wisdom of the ages. The Bard said that there is nothing new under the sun. How right he was. I say that there is no future, only the past, repeated over and over again. We have kindred spirits my friend. Thank you for tour visit again.
