I think the color version tells us more and is more likeable! In B&W it looks more classic, but not enough classic because of the convergence of the lines which in classics are not usual, maybe because they tried to show the world most realistically!

Thank you for your appreciation and relevant critique, here and in the color version. While I normally prefer B&W tonality you are quite right about the effect of lamp posts and other somewhat extraneous lines that are more intrusive in monochrome than in color as B&w does not have the color separation that can abstract them more easily (or integrate them without as much clutter) I think this was an effective 16mm focal length shot and I like the low angle effect on human groups, animals and architecture.

 

The girl has the town (St-Tropez) at her feet.
