I like the lines and textures in this shot and from this close-up I can envision the remainder of the tree.  Well seen... Mike

Thanks for your prompt response on this humble offering.  I was first attracted to the textures on the center trunk.  It wasn't until post that I began to see the wide range of pastel colours involved.  White birches!  Who knew?  :-)  Best, Len.

What a difference an innocent typo can make!  :-)  Yah, Pierre, I was surprised too.  Live & learn!  Thanks for your visit.  Best, Len.

When I saw this I said to myself "see other people shoot the bark of trees too", I just didn't have the courage to post it. The other mitigating factor is yours is much nicer, especially the soft pastel colors. Quite nice Len. The clarity in the larger view does reveal some very interesting details and the textures you and Mike noted.

Best Always,  Holger

We (photographers) are always on the look for that exotic subject, meanwhile passing by that which is right under our noses.  And I'm more often than not in that category.  Sometimes I'll take a shot simply so as not to come home empty handed and often that shot is the one I'll post.  When isolated by framing, which is the case here, the colours and textures become interesting subjects themselves ........ to my eye at least.  Thanks for your thoughts.  Best, Len

Very well done, Len, just enough real world detail in the peeling bark to keep the image from pure abstraction. I especially like the subtlety of the color.

Always nice to hear from you.  The peeling bark was certainly part of the attraction.  The colours were a bit of a surprise. Initially I wasn't expecting to post this one.  Tried it in B&W but preferred the colour version.  Best, Len

I find Birch trees to be fascinating. I really am enjoying this capture. Excellent detail in the middle tree, lovely textures from nature....the colours are so lovely in the layers of the Birch bark as well. This really would look great framed Len.

Thanks for your visit & comment.  The soft focus on the outer trunks helps to make the center one stand out more.  Thanks also for the validation.  I had thought about printing this one & will now almost certainly do just that.  I can only print to 8.5 x 11 on my printer but if it stands up at that size & I think I need a larger one I can always rely on Costco. :-)  Best, Len.

I was very fortunate. My Dad found an Epson 1400 13x19 for sale on Kijji. A man in Cobourg had it for sale who was a Photographer. Dad checked it out and it seemed in good running condition. I got ink and a unopened box of Epson Luster for 150. However, one isn't always that fortunate. So far it has been printing really close to my Moniter.  I've never tried Costco but I'm sure they would do a great job!

Luck is good!  The ink and paper alone are likely worth &150.   My next printer will be a larger format.  (I think that's the only kind available today)  Until then Costco is my go-to store for prints larger than 8.5" x 11".   Always nice to get a visit from you.  Best, Len.
