Giangiorgio Crisponi 454 Posted April 13, 2015 Among Flamingos the formation of couples is preceded by the wedding parade in which numerous individuals participate simultaneously. It is represented by several ritualized behaviors or "figures" repeated rhythmically by the components of the entire group. Each individual continues the neck upward and rotates the head repeatedly from side to side in sync with the other components of the group (Figure head or head-to-flagging flag). Subsequently opens its wings fully, showing red and black plumage of the lower wing coverts (Figure wing-health or greeting wing), by prostrating finally bowing the neck forward (Figure wingsalute inverted or inverse of greeting wing). charo 3 Posted April 14, 2015 You've captured an interesting moment here. I have seen many flamingos in their natural habitat (in Paracas), south of Lima, but never seen such an interesting parade! Light is also magic and contributes to the beauty of the image.Kind Regards,Rosario. Link to comment
