The image itself is extraordinary but the POV is perfect.  How did you get level with a flying bird?  Are you levitating now? :-)... Mike

Thanks Mr. Mancil! Good question .. I do feel taller each day/jk!  .... I was on a bluff and the birds would fly by at eye level in the afternoon to perch on the cliff (higher) near by. Only when the light is right then the bird would look this good, otherwise, it's quite ... uggly  :-)

Couldn't help but read your reply to Mike above, it all makes sense really , hey , you did find the right spot , since you are a keen birder you ought to know where to position yourself for the best shots , that one is stunnig , there is even a slight bokeh to enhance the passing cormorant , the sharply focused bird's vivid blue eye is truly something to stare at , very well done !

Thanks Carol!  Most of the time, it's best to shoot at the same level as the bird .. in some cases, that means flat to the ground and in this case it's up on the bluff in the afternoon (4,5PM) any earlier and lighting would be too harsh (unless it's a cloudy day, LOL!) .

Thanks Ruud!  I would give this a 7 too (if it's not my image), LOL!  I don't think I can get a better one (but who knows).

Outstanding Tm. The copper color of the wings and the blue eye are things I have not associated with a cormorant ( mental picture= black bird ). Just a great capture.

Thanks Steve! Good to hear from you, the wife like La Jolla very much and it's a great place to shoot Cormorant & Pelican from the bluff.
