Very original, showing the whole negative as positive image. The grain make it an attractive artistic effect, plus the diagonal composition and a lighting if perfect too.

Cheers.

Ha, Ilford FP4 used to be my favourite (though the "plus" must be a later version) ... I loved the subtlety of the texture, the grain and contrast, though in poor lighting conditions it was sometimes better to move to HP3.

The presentation above as a frame in a sequence accentuates the cinematographic style of the shot, something reminiscent of Visconti in the 50's .. needless to say, I love the effect.

We debated the matter recently, and my conviction remains that your technique, which consists in registering moments that seem unplanned, sometimes badly lit and not always in perfect focus, strongly enhances the expression of atmosphere and mood. Whether the effect is similar for a younger viewer, I don't know, but for me it brings back memories that are sometimes as hazy as your images and even when more strongly defined, that correspond more closely to records that were made at the time.

Hmm, I wonder how many noticed the wonderful shadow cast by the young lady's face, another signature of your unique style.

A wonderful shot, I totally identify with it and I promise you that I saw this exact scene  XX years ago .. : -)

Sweid.  I agree with John that many of your shots have a spontaneity that is pretty compelling.  I like the contact print and the grain.  It makes me want to get out the F3, buy some film, and get back to my roots.  Really cool.  Dana...

Thank you for your flattering comment! I see you got my intention, and the same concept as well. About my creative skills, believe me, it was an accident, absolutely! Thanks again.

This an old work recently rescued from my memories box, taken years ago with a Canon EOS 1000 (such a nice camera), the previous photo of this negative is the "ELEVEN" in this same album. There is the weird story of this film series.

Thank you very much for your comment Bela, it's valuable for me.

John

Yes, the "plus" is a later version of this FP4 film, a classic indeed, I used it a lot in my first days as a pretended photographer. In other photo of mine you told me that a photo is something similar to the scents, so, you can smell it closing your eyes and immediately you're transported in time and place, to another circumstance where something special is nailed. And thats's true, the photographs works in the same way, like music as well, the difference with a photo is that you need wide open eyes. Here is the perfect example of the magic, a transportation to other times in my brain.

I think that the similitude with a movie stance (I'm blushed by the comparison with those italian giants) is impulsed by the atmosphere instilled in each image, our flight to a certain moment of our lives where a relevant emotion had place, even in my primitive works.

Anyway, I'm encouraged by your comment, and the time taken for this. Thanks again my friend.

Dana

You're right, perhaps is time to take our old analogic cameras, rescue it form the dark long sleep, blow out the dust, charge it with a good bw film, and start again. The first thing that shake your memories is the unique sound of the shutter, copied in modern stuffs, but the original sound is inimitable.

Second shock, the anxiety, because you can't see what you've done until several hours even days later, in the dark room. Such a naif romantic old man I am, but I still loving those old times. Thank you very much Dana, I appreciate too much your words.

Maurizio

Caro amico! I'm so glad because you've visited and commented on this old shot, tante grazie Mau!

By the way, to all of you, I miss her lost left foot, included in the "ELEVEN" version of the same film. Thank you folks.
