In November of 2013 we visited Florida. While visiting friends in

Jupiter, we stopped to spend an afternoon at the Busch Wildlife

Sanctuary. All Birds and Animals here are rescues, usually injured.

It was a great place to visit, well cared for and 'FREE'. They hope

folks will leave a Donation, which we were happy to give. I believe

this is a 'Cattle Egret'. I chuckled as I took this capture - just the

position of the face of the bird with it's big eyes almost 'cross eyed'.

(thanks for any visits/comments , warm regards, Gail :)

I actually replaced the background because the bird was in a cage. The background was all dark brown with 'lines' from the 'wire'. Many thanks Bill for your visit!

Hi, Gail! Beautiful and funny shot! I have to go there too - my daughter lives there near by. Happy Easter to you and your family! Warmest regards, Tamara.

I would say priceless expression is it. Great feather details and great use of your macro at 2.8!

What a cool photo! Nice work with replacing the background. I would not have guessed that you did that. I like the composition, apparent DOF, and subject. It's fun and unusual too.

I live in central Florida so I am very familiar with these guys. The odd thing about them is when taking an image from below them (as you have done) their eyes appear disturbingly crazy.  I have several similar shots and they are just weird.

This is very well done...

You did a so good work with this composition, excellent choice to remove the original bg and gives this one.For sure ten point for this subject in this posture that shows eyes and beak in an amusing way and title is perfect for this, simple things and big effect is my philosophy and you did it here.

You take so many Bird images!! I will have to get back and look at your folders more often.  I even looked up where you live in Florida.  It does not look far from where good friends of ours live in Winter Springs.  We lived in an Adult Lifestyle Community about 50 minutes East of Toronto a few years back.  Where you live, reminds me a lot of where we were (except for the cold Winters!!) The houses are similar, as is all the amenities of the Park.

Thank you Radu, the background was so dismal I had to do something with it for the image to look decent at all. I hope you had a blessed weekend.

I thought the POV made an interesting choice. I am short and could almost take a step stool most places if it weren't so 'awkward' :) I guess sometimes it pays not to be so tall. If I was looking head on to this bird, the 'beak' would have been quite blurred if I was hoping to get good detail in the eyes.
