Guest Guest Posted October 4, 2003 Good one, but I believe it looks better in the thumb nail than in the larger image we see here. I think this has to do with the shallow depth of field which renders her (very prominent) nose out of focus. I would try to crop at mid-nose, or a little lower, and keep only the top section of her eye showing. This is still very pleasant to see, but it does take on an abstract form (then again Im an abstract man too). By the waylove the high contrast and the 45* angle caused by her tilted head. digitri 0 Posted October 4, 2003 Great portrait! If it was me I would have soften the area under her eye and the whole right cheek a bit. I think it would have accentuate her eye and I suspect she would have preferred it too... Link to comment

kevinbriggs 0 Posted October 5, 2003 I agree with the need for a little softening, but I really like this!!! Quite original in my opinion. Link to comment
behemot3 0 Posted October 5, 2003 Good portrait - nice composition but it looks so harsh that it gets me a little scary - it is just the feeling I get but ... well regards, kuba Link to comment
margaret_s. 0 Posted October 5, 2003 Piotr, I generally like most of your work but this one isn't pleasing to me. I find the shadows and contrasts too harsh. They don't flatter her face or complexion at all (and do make her look a little scary). Just personal taste of course. I also have the same feeling about the nose being out of focus.. Not meant to offend you at all, just voicing honest opinion :) Link to comment
guido_ratti 0 Posted October 6, 2003 Hi Piotr! I think this is a great portrait, as usual for you. I don't think that the nose out of focus is annoying: of course it is a choice, and it conveys attention to the eye in focus. There's only a thing that disturbs the image: what is that harsh cut of the nose I remarked in the following picture? If it depends on Photoshop, I think you could do it better. Anyway lots of compliments Link to comment
galina stepanova 0 Posted October 6, 2003 Hi, Piotr. Interesting work. I like the crop. I like the sharpness of part of face, especially the eye and part of lips. The texture of skin doesn't work for me, but it is very subjective. This picture is definitely not ordinary. Best wishes, Galina Link to comment
andre_napier 0 Posted October 7, 2003 It is a great powerful portrait, it may have some technical minor flaws, but the merit of it superseeds them all. Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted October 7, 2003 Piotr, while I admire most of the work you do and like you're creative portraits, this one doesn't work for me. It's dramatic, but not attractive, and in the end, doesn't say much about the model. I think any of us would look like that under similar processing/lighting conditions. Link to comment
lars raun 0 Posted October 8, 2003 I like it because of its high definition and unpolished appearance. Great catchlight on the eye and the highlights in her hair makes it very attractive to look at. Link to comment
uk 0 Posted February 8, 2004 You've captured a very strong image here and presented it well. Admire your portfolio of original work very much. Well done. Gary Link to comment
