This is the second image of the spider I am trying to identify. The

previous image shows it in comparison to a larger blossom that is

about 2 inches across. The bud just above it is less than an inch

across.

Not a clue to what type of spider it is. But one can't help but marvel at the intricate and delicate mechanics that nature has created, such finely tuned engineering developed over thousands of years of evolution.

Very well done Gail

Once I know the species, I may know more.  I don't see many spiders around our house.  I see the usual ones in the house which I get rid of as soon as I can. The thoughts of any crawling on me in the night are enough to get me after them.  Outside, I mostly see Jumping Spiders, the odd Yellow Backed Garden Spider and other little ones, but this fellow was different from anything I'd seen.

Hi Gail

I think that this is Tetragnatha extensa otherwise known here as a stretch spider. If you look in my Spider folder you will see one with prey. Not easy to get a good photo of these. They are very beautiful creatures. Well done.

You have quite a few spiders in that folder.  I think a saw one like it.  These are rather odd and difficult to identify. Many thanks for sharing your thoughts and directing me to your 'spiders' :)

Many thanks for your visits and thoughts expressed.  I was rather fortunate this spider did not move too quickly - perhaps this summer I will see another.
