Jack McRitchie 150 Posted March 28, 2015 We've seen photos of birds in flight - some of them far more exquisitely detailed or more perfectly composed than this one. But in the end they remain simply technically adept and aesthetically pleasing nature pictures. But there's something about the odd composition here with one wing extended outside the picture frame, the sense of something swooping in to meet you, almost too close for comfort that gives this picture an archetypal feeling. There's a rawness here that seems to bypass the idealized beauty of the aviary world yet to me comes closer to something essential and mysterious. Link to comment
