On the plus side you've nicely avoided splitting this one in half, only just, by giving precedence to the dramatic sky.  It reminds me of one I took a few years ago in February on the shores of Georgian Bay.  I particularly like your decision to convert to B&W as I find I prefer it to your similar colour versions.  Scenes like this one can produce some wonky colours, especially if the saturation levels are allowed to drift too high.  The lighting is ideal for revealing the shapes and textures in the foreground area lending a 3D effect to it.  Nice reward for your efforts.  I don't believe there is a negative side.  By the way, nice hat!  (your bio)  :-)  Best, Len.

Thank you for looking in and for the kind feedback.I originally worked this one in color but could not come to terms with the definition on the ice  in the pile-up,so I went B/W and tweaked the ice seperately. This had a lot more foreground which I cropped out but could not manage better proportions using all the sky available;your similar Georgian Bay shot had better proportions which you probably foresaw while shooting. When I first viewed your image,I thought I was seeing one of my shots overlooking Miscou Harbour from the rock breakwater at the now de-commissioned ferry landing(I will post if I manage to find it).

PS;I have parked the hat now that spring has arrived...but we are forecasted a blizzard for this weekend, another one.

Meilleures salutations-Laurent
