BIG Tree

Sometimes I like to shoot nature. This big tree is along a trial I use

once in a while. I shot it backlit for drama.

The definitely has the feeling of a witching place; like a scene out of a Brothers Grimm fairy tale. I think it's really a very good picture with the tree in the back adding perfect balance, context and companionship

Thank you Jack. I think my composition has gotten better in the last year or so and that is a good skill to have. This tree has a bore of 5' or so, which is pretty big for a cottonwood. I like the strong contrast in this image.

You acheived a good tone in this piece, creating a lot of depth with that tonage. The composition is strong, starting out with the trunk of the tree then moving to the back of the full tree. Good work.

Jack says it very well Chuck!!  Old trees seem to have a 'soul' - especially when they are as big as this one. I too like the knarly tree in the background. They almost seem to be 'conspiring'!!
