Very Good! I saw a couple like this last week in Lake Mary Florida and then he became quite aggressive and she was not quite ready. After depressing her head below water and trying to mount, she finally escaped by flying away with him in 'hot' pursuit.

Thanks Tony! Lucky you since I've never witness a Western Grebe mating scene yet and that's what I am hoping to photograph next. With hundreds of Grebes at this lake my chance of catching that image is high if I keep coming (the lake is over 1 hour from where I live).  I think a lot of mating scene are sort of 'brutal', for example, even the Mallard when mate it seems as though he wants to drown her ...

Great eyes!  I think most wild mating would be a crime in our society but they seem to work it out.  Good luck catching them in the act.... Mike
