Jack McRitchie 150 Posted February 21, 2015 A strong and boldly unorthodox composition wrenches us from our everyday reality. Travelling under a brooding sky on a road that comes to a sudden, watery end, we find ourselves quite alone in a a darkly dreamlike world. Link to comment
M_Lipakis 3 Posted February 22, 2015 "we find ourseves quite alone in a darky dreamlike world"I visited this village yesterday and i talked to the last four of its residents. They refuse to leave their homes, their memories and lifes. Not until the water is in their threshold they say. They also guard the church as it is still full with icons and holy books. They were given some money (others say a lot, others say peanuts) but no one had the decency to built a new village for these people somewhere near by. Now they are scattered all arround, relatives, friends, neighbours seperated for good. What once was a community of people now is nothing. Their fields that were meant to feed them, their children and their childrens children are gone and they have been watching them drouning day by day.I work for the company that now is in charge to finish this project and then to operate this dam. I couldn't help myself and i cried as i was driving away from Sfendili.Change a word Jack to what you wrote and it's exactly what these people could have told me: "we find ourselves quite alone in a darky nightmarish world".Thanks for stopping by.
