Fred,

This is a really good, clear shot- it helped that she was immobile- still. How are you getting such a close up at 210mm?  Same with the snowflakes ( nice, also).

Not sure it's normal for bees to leave the hive in winter unless stressed or getting hungry.

Fascinating on many levels.  Bee in winter on ice?  Macro or close-up? 210mm? Nevertheless an excellent image. One for the archives, Frederick.

Please look up "cleaning flights" regarding honey bees departing during winter... it happens when sun warms a hive and they can move enough to head out and eliminate their waste.

Regarding focal length... I used the Micro Nikkor 105mm partnered up with the Nikon AF-S Teleconverter TC-20E Loads of fun.
