Snow and high winds force you to stay close to home, but Caramelle

needs to go for a walk.Thank you for your comment-Laurent

Dogs are amazing aren't they. It can be so cold, be snowing and blowing, but they love their walks, at least until it is too cold for their paws, but I think their 'spirit' still wants to go on! You certainly had a frigid blast!! How much snow do you figure you have gotten so far??

You are right.Dogs want to be out whatever the condition and Caramelle loves the cold and the snow.Problem when we get 30-40cm as here as that is twice her short legs which makes for tough going.Guess this storm is about over now and what is left is to dig out.Thank you for looking in and for the observation.

Wow, these conditions are as foreign to me as the Moon.  I can only imagine having to place stakes to find your driveway!  I don't see a chimney.  What do you do for heat if the power goes out? An excellent shot and the red of the house draws us to it... Mike

Welcome to my world. The driveway stakes are 4-feet high and on ''snowy'' winters, extensions have to be added. Most of the older homes in this area are equipped with wood furnaces but here,I have only electric heat;for power outages,I have a gas generator with some parrallel circuits to plug in vital elements such as water pump, refrigerator and some heaters for people comfort but also to keep the water system from freezing and very importantly, the satellite(dish) for TV and for Internet(tower at right).Great fun when the power goes off;light the candles, start generator, keep fuelled and plug in the essentials.

Wow,this is what I never seen from long time in my area,is excellent to have an extra power there(generator)but if I think a wood heating system would be very good one too.I thought few days ago that without electricity my heating is out, without metan gas also heating is out,we depend too much from this, only one out and we are in a big problem. So I decide that reserve will be very good so next must be generator and wood heater.

We are located here in a high wind corridor(we have a wind turbine farm) and sometimes even a small snowfall can be turned into a blizzard. In this forested area, power outages occur regularly from trees falling on powerlines and my generator has been a very good backup especially during the winter to keep things from freezing up.Now at the end of January,we only have two more months of heavy snow before the spring melt.

Salutations my friend-Laurent
