Blue Heron (Please click for larger view)

We saw many blue herons on a recent day trip, but this was

literally the only one we were able to get before it flew away. I

think I'm going to need to get a tripod that fits the window of the car

so I don't have to get out and set up mine.

Wowza...this is beautiful.  I have never been able to get this close to a Blue Heron.  I like this a lot.  Well done. 

Is very good looking indeed,I think warm season is better to him for sure than snow and ice,is a very elegant bird with this feathers.

Thanks everyone!  My husband and I were playing with our new super zoom camera, and it did a pretty good job.  It goes to 1200mm and has an amazing image stabilization.  So when something is too far away for my DSLR lenses, we can use this to zoom in tighter.  I wanted to take this with my 500mm lens, but I needed to set the tripod up to do so.  As soon as I got out of the car, these guys were gone.  So we used the super zoom as a back up.  

I've never seen a Blue Heron in living in snow condition before but then I don't live in snowy condition either, lol. Good sharpness and details and the snow in the background is interesting to me. TFS!
