I actually played around a little more with it yesterday but thought it maybe a little too pushy to post it but what the hell; here's my second edit.

I always welcome attempts to redo the processing on my photos, Jack.  Thank you for these.  This version is very nice, too--and I do like that sky with more texture.

This otherwise mediocre picture has that road--and that road has that "special something" which one feels that one ought to be able to bring out better.

Thanks for trying, Jack.  I just might go back up there (to the next county north of where I live) and reshoot it as it gets dark, to see what I might come away with.

This shot of the last house on the road was made a few minutes earlier.  The road was still paved in front the house, but the pavement ran out shortly thereafter, a bit further south toward the intersection of the two rivers.
