I should have cleaned off the gazing ball before taking the shot. The finger-prints seen in the trees to the image-left of my head are annoying...

It's been a while since I've requested a critique. Any comments

(constructive or otherwise) would be useful. :)

 

I wonder if a gazing ball would make for an interesting photographic

study. Does anyone know of any other gazing ball photos on photo.net

or elsewhere on the web?

pretty cool, almost like a fisheye shot.

this type of pic is often tried seldom done this well. Nice shot!

I didn't notice the fingerprints and would have gone a 7 if the ball was centered.I had to give a 6. I did give you a 7 on originality for trying.

I think the composition is great. I would have not centered the ball either.

I have been doing looking glass shots for about 3 yrs now, will prolly to post some of them. I don't mind the finger prints, I think the dust etc. is a nice part of these type of photos.

The rule of thirds was made for shots like this, I believe placing the ball in the centre would have detracted from what is an excellent shot.

When I first visited Butchard Gardens I was there about two hours on a tour bus. It was very sunny so I used the view finder on my digital camera instead of the LCD. This means that I have to remove my glasses to take photos and I must rely on auto-focus because my glasses are off. I did not notice that my camera had inadvertantly been switched to manual-focus and every image was out of focus.

After seeing this wonderful image by you of yourself I feel it is time to return to Victoria and try again. I will look for this spot to see what I can do with it. Thanks for sharing.
