gordonjb 10,860 Posted December 30, 2014 A reflection of trees, as seen in a puddle on the forest floor. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted December 30, 2014 I'm glad that I read your explanation; I thought it was some bit of PS trickery. I guess all you need are your two eyes to find magic in a puddle. Another one of yours into my favorites. Link to comment

Laura Weishaupt 3,780 Posted December 31, 2014 Gordon,I've been looking at this since you posted it for critique. The image is captivating in every way. It strikes me as a masterful combination of ingredients provided by nature, thoughtful and skillful post work, and your own creative vision.Every line here seems to have multiple purpose. It almost looks like there are flowers in the upper left corner and a couple of other places. Was the puddle rimmed in clear ice? The lines coming from mid left to lower right corner of the frame remind me of concentric layers of crystal clear ice. I like the level of contrast. Much more and it would start to look sinister, but here, the image is light and inviting with leaf and tree details intact. Each corner of the frame seems to have a different perspective, a quality of water reflections that you've used with the framing to amazing advantage.Best seen large size to fully appreciate. Beautiful, inspirational work. Thanks for sharing. Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted January 5, 2015 Laura, in answer to your question the photo was taken standing in a fairly large flooded area of forest floor. The area had several sections where the surface was distorted by remnants of thin ice which had skinned over the water surface the previous evening. When those previously frozen sections thawed, there remained traces of the concentric circles in the ice in the form of ridges of tiny bubbles which distorted the surface tension. Link to comment
