A few minutes later, the light intensified. There was a couple standing in the shallows of the water (upper right) and I headed in that direction with my telephoto lens instead of my 10-20mm. These are the magic hours and I wanted to take advantage.  I had been shooting and driving since 30 minutes before sunrise and had made no plans of where I was going to sleep. I was driving solo in a mini-van with all of the back seats removed so I had possibilities.

Love it, the cool shadows and the warm light on the distant hills are perfect.  The essence of being there... Mike

Yes, it takes barely minutes and you have a totally different landscape when you are in the mountains. Beautiful capture. I hope you found a place to bunk down for the night!

Although I can appreciate the textures and shapes of the driftwood in the former post, this more distant view seems to please my eyes more in terms of colour balance the warm rocks, cool water and neutral greens allow a real sense of being there!

Compliments!
