Thanks for viewing/comments! When the Cormorant surface with a fish, there's about

1 second to shoot before he swallows the fish . This bird is a bit slow because it's a

big fish .. it took him about 2 seconds to get the fish down the hatch.

Tm,

Wow!  That is a huge fish.  I really like this shot, especially all the water drops as the bird surfaced, and I can see both the bird's eye and the fish eye.  Good work.

Thanks Bill! I missed the first 3 feeding and got lucky on this 4th one , to boot, the bird was right infront of me too.  Nothing likes being lucky!

Thanks Mr Mancil & Thanks Gail! Good to hear from both of you, this shot is probably my best Cormorant with trout shot at this point.  Hard to show action, eyes, curvy fish with sharpness and good resolution ... ect .  Nothing likes being lucky!

Well, this certainly trumps the standard offerings (mine included) of a static bird sitting in a tree or on the water!  Action makes all the difference.  To my eye Cormorants are rather bland compared to other more colourful birds but this shot puts a whole new spin on them.  Next time I'm out I'll try to observe them a bit closer, and of course this shot & your advice ( time from surfacing to swallowing lunch) will be on my mind.  I never noticed what a pretty colour their eyes are either.  Live & learn!  Best, LM.

A beautifully detailed shot! Love the clarity of the movement. Great catch, for both you and the cormorant!
