What an interesting place! It seems an image from another world. I like the contrast of the sky with such strange formations.

Kind Regards,

Rosario

Thanks Rosario! Good to hear from you, I took 3 days vacation to Mammoth Lakes, Ca and Mono Lake is only 20 miles away. Got lucky with 3 good days of great weather. This place is a strange looking place with spectacular sunrise and sunset in good weather . I find coming before sunrise walked to the tufa field and shoot at first light for about 20-30mimutes produces the besst result. With the sun comming up around 6AM I normally get there around 5:30AM to prepare and got lucky with some decent shots.

Thanks Mr. Mancil! There's not much in Eastern Siera Nevada of California, only Mono Lake and may be Bodie Ghost Town in Bridgport, CA.

Merci Beaucoup Line!  If you need some information, send me an e-mail. Not that I know much since the first time I checked out this place it was closed to 40 years ago and in the last couple years I've only been shooting here 4,5 times (this time account for 4 times) . From my observation, I get better image in the early morning . If I do this again I would come early in the afternoon to scout out the area and take some shots to see what may work in better light and come back either in early morning or late afternoon to shoot.  This shot was taken in South Mono Lake Tufa and it's not the best logistic area (from what I've seen of others images). Key thing is weather because it's lighting that make the image and give us the lovely clouds as well. Just my opinion!
