michaellinder 16,611 Posted November 28, 2014 This is exceptional, Pierre. You have captured every nuance of this person's appearance, especially his expression. It looks like he was in the midst of speaking with someone (you perhaps), given the direction of his eyes and his partially open mouth. Almost every strand of hair and every square inch of skin is so detailed that it is clearly distinguishable from the rest. The tonal range is spot on, and so is the use of a white background. Fine, fine work . . . My best always, michael Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 258 Posted November 28, 2014 Thank you David! I don't know the guy, but I trust your refined taste! Cheers to that! PDE Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 258 Posted November 28, 2014 Exactly, Michael! I was shooting while he was talking and selling watermelons and he was talking all the time, very interesting stories!Speaking of the details on the face and other technical characteristics I must remind you that it was taken with a point & shoot film camera! I only regret for the today's domination of the digitals because of that cute mighty camera! Thank you for your keen eyed and minded as always comment! Best regards PDE Link to comment
andrzejp 6 Posted November 28, 2014 Very intense. Perfect tonal range. A masterpiece! Link to comment

michaellinder 16,611 Posted November 28, 2014 Ah yes, Pierre, the power of a P&S, but controlled by the creativity and craft of a master. Link to comment
Ciao Pierre, amico miMa...ulisse! Link to comment

Pierre Dumas 258 Posted November 29, 2014 Evgeni, This guy was not a common farmer, he was very well informed about everything and knew how to take everything from life, among other that producing and selling watermelons was the best choice at the moment! And yes, he must have been a hard working man too! Thank you for your visit and nice comment! PDE Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 258 Posted November 29, 2014 Thank you, Ruud! I wish I had always the technical quality of your pictures, but for this one I must be satisfied as it is! PDE Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 258 Posted November 29, 2014 Thank you, Stephanie! It was bright sunlight and the face was heavily back-lit which doesn't appear on this image! I don't remember why I didn't include all parts of his face, but it must be that I have been afraid of underexposure, it was an automatic P & S camera and probably didn't have the possibility of spot metering! Pierre Dumas 258 Posted November 29, 2014 Yes, Michael! I regret that I didn't make a highest resolution scan to show what the P & S really offers! PDE Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 258 Posted November 29, 2014 Non mi ricordo molto di Ulisse di Omero, ma sulla tua parola, deve essere così!
