Jim_Dockery_Photos 2 Posted November 27, 2014 I started up the trail to the bristlecone pine grove below Wheeler Pk. in Great Basin National Park by headlamp so that I'd be there to watch the sunrise. The gnarled wood of these roots lent themselves to a focus stack. Link to comment
Jim_Dockery_Photos 2 Posted December 20, 2014 Thanks for the comments guys. Richard, you are spot on regarding the blue sky morning I took this. I've processed it both ways and while the shade setting does give a more neutral/grey look to the wood, this version is more dramatic in the contrasting colors and is closer to the feel of the very cool morning air (I hiked up in the dark to get this).
