Large view available. Might this be a contestant in a beauty pageant

or just a female tree modeling in th field? The tree is on the grounds

of Stanford University. This abstract is a whimsical image that I

thought would be enjoyable. Your comments are appreciated. Larry

Larry.....I like to take shots like this as well....and find shapes of things in tree trunks, clouds, etc.   Clever and good eye.  I see that the tree trunk isn't all in focus.....do you know about focus stacking?  If not, it's something I learned in photo school this summer, and I'd be happy to explain the simple concept to you.  This may have been a good place to try focus stacking to get the entire tree trunk in focus (especially the 'eye' on the left).  :-)  Nevertheless, I like it, as well as your creative eye.

Hi  Christal,

Thanks for your visit and helpful eye and input.  I would like your explanation on focus stacking.  Can it be applied in post processing.  Many thanks.   Larry

Unusual textures in nature have always fascinated me Larry. I have never seen a tree such as this. Glad to have you share it with us. We can often see such unusual designs in Nature, even in ourselves as we get older :) Hope all is well with you and yours,

kind regards and best wishes always, Gail

Tony,

Thanks.  I had an hour or two on a hot summer afternoon outside of a museum on the Stanford campus and decided to roam the surrounding fields. Larry

Gail,  It is always a delight to connect with you.  You are right.  We need to think about and appreciate the details of nature.  Fortunately, as photographers, visual detail is our mindset.  All's well on our front.  We are bracing for winter.  We are having our daughter in Kansas City take our dog, Barclay, for a couple months while our kitchen is being remodeled.  Hope you have resolved your health issues and that your family is doing well.   Larry
