Landrum Kelly 64 Posted November 15, 2014 The original file was shot as a raw file (Nikon's NEF), after which exposure compensation was reduced somewhat in post processing. It was shot hand-held at 1/100 sec, f/5, ISO 800. I never shoot at f/5, but when I considered going on up to 5.6, I decided that I might need a bit more light to get an adequately fast shutter speed, and so I stopped at f/5 on my way up from f/4 to f/5.6. There were probably crisper shots made from this angle, but this seemed good enough. No sharpening or other post processing was used in the inline photos. No sharpening was used in the original file at the top of the page, but I think that I applied a very shallow S-curve, and perspective correction was applied. Or perhaps I brought down the levels a bit in lieu of using curves. I really don't remember. The files from the D800E are quite useable when it is shot hand-held, even at sunset, if the ISO is bumped up a bit. ISO 800 was used here since it rarely causes much noise, but is usually fast enough to get a decent shutter speed for hand-held shooting. I have the D3s, but more and more I shoot with the D800E. The big files are typically not a problem if a keep enough free hard disk space. These were processed on a modest Lenovo laptop--all just for fun. I'm sorry I lost the blue sky on this shot. I think that it would have been a very good shot with the wonderful blue sky that I had captured moments earlier shooting back to the northwest. --Lannie Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted November 15, 2014 I shot this one hand-held on a D800E. I have posted a lot of inlineshots of details of the house. Please view and comment. --Lannie Link to comment
