The northern wind created a nice drift with the season's first snow to

set the scene at my favorite church.Thank you for your comment-Laurent

Wow, all that snow already!  Love the perspective on this shot and the dramatic sky.  Well, I did wear a vest to work today but had to take it off, too hot ;-)... Mike

Hi Laurent,

Thanks for sharing.  Overall the image is exposed beautifully, the focus is spot on with a great depth of field.  I really like the perspective, the distance from the building and inclusion of the entire fence...good decision making.  there is definitely a mood that is captured and you can almost hear the scene.  The balance from left to right is visually compelling.  The one thing that I would probably consider is cropping.  I'm not one that says you MUST follow the rule of thirds for horizons, but i think this could benefit from losing some of the snow at the bottom or clouds at the top...or both.  Overall a great composition!

Hi Laurent:

Excellent capture.

I agree with the previous comment re cropping. Not sure whether I'd crop the sky or the snow but I think I'd lean towards cropping the sky (there's a sky every day... but not daily snow). I'd be tempted to try it in a stark b & w also.

Very well done.

Cheers, Dave D

This must be seen and compare with the previous one you did(named ''Dominant'').I think the blue grey tonality of ''Dominant works better and landscape format is also in the idea of previous comments.

Thank you for looking in.Most of this snow has now melted down as it sat on unfrozen ground but temperatures are now dropping below freezing and winter will really set in and this scene will repeat itself.

Thank you for the extensive and very valuable critique.I agree fully with your crop suggestion which approaches the more panoramique version of this which I posted earlier.I wanted a square format for this one and I guided my choice by starting with the selection of the horizontal portion of the scene, then I proceeded from the bottom to include the shadowed snow bank and closed with the sky within the remainder of the frame by the same token bypassing the rules of thirds.Again,I appreciate your taking time on this one and the kind observation.

Thank you for viewing and for the appreciation. This is only our first snow of the year and there will be plenty more for Christmas card scenes I am sure. You also take care.

Thank you for viewing and for the kind observation. If you care to sneak a look at the other frame I applied on this, you will basically find what you suggest including the stark B/W tones; the sepia toning was a last instance move and I gather from your and others' comments not so good.

Thank you my friend for your honest appreciation;as I noted to Dave above, going sepia, maybe too much, was a last minute move and maybe not so good.I will keep in mind when processing future shots especially of snow scenes.

Merci et salutations amicales-Laurent
