I have visited this location in Scotland back in 2011, and thought I'd try and better the

last attempt.

Your thoughts and comments are always welcome. Thank You.

Alf,

A lot to see in this landscape but it is stunning, especially in the larger view.  You have composed it well and were able to capture several waterfalls, mountain, and very interesting clouds.  Your exposure seems perfect to my eye and focus is tack-sharp.  Cheers, bb

An excellent composition my friend. It reminds me of a fairy land picture. Very well done indeed. Sincere congratulations!.

Alf - a real beauty. I have gone over the entire image inch by inch and I have nothing to offer except praise. Well done!

Beautiful work.  It is one of my favorite haunts of yours.  I liked your 2011 work as well, but this is better yet.

Cheers

This is really a nature monument, looks incredible so nice.Clean fresh water, untouched nature that shows all majestic it has.I try to imagine what you feel when you are there and hear the stream sound, wind on the trees and fresh air.

As has been noted, a superb landscape with excellent composition and visual interest, passing my benchmark "wish-I-were-there" test.  Alas, before I can use the "perfect" score, I zoomed in to check out the dark spot over the peak and found a smear.  There's another in the top right and several sensor spots scattered through the sky.  Regardless, a beautiful scene, captured well and presented very near to perfect ;-)...  Mike

Fabulous composition as usual Alf. Know what you mean about the sensor spots though. They are the bane of my life!

Alf - Your photos provide the benchmark for composition excellence and quality of detail I think.  One could linger for quite awhile here.

Mike has a fine eye for noting the sensor spots  - he really looks at a photo, (a compliment!).  Fortunately the spots can be easily corrected.

Congrats on a very good image,

David

A wonderful landscape scene, deep earthly colors and a menacing sky along with springs makes someone want to be there and breathe the fresh air and admire the location.  Thank you Alf for bringing us those "fresh" photos...cheers!

This is quite an iconic view captured by myself and other on many occasions. Most people tend to favour the portrait orientations to a good deal of  foreground and sky, but I like the landscape shape with the wide angle lens.

Many Thanks for your thoughts and positive feedback Bill, much appreciated!

The whole of Scotland is like fairy land to me, just a huge play area for me to explore with my camera I love it!

It is very gratifying to read your words, I too compared the work of 2011 to this one and thought this was an improvement, but it's always good to get expert opinions.

Sincere Thanks

It is an uplifting experience to stand in front of this beautiful spot and drink it all in, I come away with the wish that I had captured it's beauty, but in all honesty just being there is fulfilling enough.

Who is the "Eagle Eye" now then : - )

I have a feeling I was disturbed when processing this one, hence the smudge.......well that's the only excuse I can think of for leaving the spots : - )

But I thank you for your keen observation and for your most encouraging comments!

Cheers Mike!

Many Thanks for your interest and kind words, I usually edit the spots out in light room, the spot removal tool is fast and easy to use, but they eluded me on this occasion!

This kind of moody misty scene is an everyday occurrence in Scotland, and it changes by the minute, which is why I find it so compelling.

Sincere Thanks Jed!

Thank you so much for your most complimentary feedback!

Mike has a very keen eye and it's a great compliment to me that he takes the time to study my photographs, he can spot a duck or a spot at a thousand paces : - ) But yes, I agree the spots are easily sorted.

PATSY

It's a wild rugged and most beautiful area, at every bend in the road (and there are dozens of them within a mile)  there is another photographic opportunity.

Thank you so much for your thoughts and kind words Patsy.

I know this sounds unlikely, but I'm sure that the the light, the vegetation or maybe both changes dramatically from England to Scotland, everything looks so much more vibrant north of the border

Many Thanks & Best Regards

Your first sentence just about sums up my experience of Scotland, I am totally bewitched by the scenery and I am constantly consuming more eye candy everywhere I look.

Sincere Thanks!

It is indeed wild, rugged and yes magnificent too, my only regret was having to leave this place!

Many Thanks!

The light and mood changes with each passing minute, it seems you can have three or four different days in one. It is this ever changing light and atmosphere that I find so compelling.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful feedback!

Cheers!

Thank you so much for your interest and positive feedback. the front to back sharpness was made possible by the f/16 setting, and I think I avoided any overexposure or hotspots by lowering the  ISO to 50.

We should swop places, I will go to Richmond Park (A place I'd love to visit, but never seem to make it)  and you come to Scotland : - )

Thank you so much my friend!

Alf,  Hi.  Is there any more room for comment on this one?  Superb image - you nailed this one with its excellent light, detail and balance between foreground and background.  This looks like a volcano.  Is it?  One question, might you be able to reduce what appears to be white blowout on the far water fall as well as the one on the right?  Beautiful image.  Larry

Many Thanks for your interest and thoughtful comments, much appreciated!

I agree it looks like a Volcano, but I don't think it is, at least there is no mention of volcanic properties in the "Wikipedia" pages. You can look yourself if you search for Buachaille Etive Mor which is the name of this particular mountain.

I found I could further reduce the highlights in lightroom, but wasn't sure if it looked a bit too grey.  But a good suggestion nonetheless and one I shall continue to experiment with.

Cheers Larry!

I know I'm late to the party.  Hopefully, you still will welcome me.  (I know, bring some Boddington with me next time.)

Although I suspect that backgrounds don't usually grab a viewer's attention immediately, I believe that this image is an exception.  My eye went directly to the mountain, led there by the creek.  It stands there like the proverbial silent guardian.  If this weren't Scotland, I'd be tempted to say that I can imagine lava flow in the area of the base.

You've done an excellent job in presenting the cascading water in a gentle way.  After all, flowing water doesn't necessarily have to rage.  Even its shade of white is gentle, especially to the eye.

Pardon me, but I think I hear some pipes in the distance.  Music from this area would be the only distraction from such an incredible scene.

 My best always,

michael

Ahh yes Boddington's : - )  Now that's a fine brew that I haven't sampled for a while.

You are quite right the mountain does look surprisingly like a volcano and the lines that you can see caused by water erosion, do give the impression of a lava flow.

This is one of those scenes that photographers tend to flock to, but thankfully not too many and on this occasion I had the place to myself.  That's the great thing about Scotland it really doesn't appeal to "fair weather photographers"  : - )

I love the scenery of Scotland, it's a magical place, but no matter how I try I can't feel any affinity with Porridge, Whisky, or Bagpipes : - )

Always good to hear from you MIchael!

Many Thanks & Best Regards
