I probably should have kept a greater distance from this bug. But, I

didn't recall ever seeing such a creature before so I got as close as

I could. I understand, now, that this assassin bug (Reduviidae) can

defend itself or attack by stabbing its victim with its ice axe-like

proboscis barely visible here under its tiny head. Comments and

critique are welcome.

Dear Wayne,

Awesome macro.

What I like the best is the way the antenae go outside the black frame, well done, nice detail.

I know that strong yellow is the colour of many poisonous animals and that little insects can be too fatally deadly!. Take care next time...

Nice details and a powerful yellow colour!

Congrats! kindest regards, Laura Marco.

Mike,

Thanks.  I think if I knew what this bug was I would still be running. Ain't too much of an adventure photographer in me.

Radu,

Thanks.  As you know (and I am learning) macro photography is a lot of work.  But I confess, it is a matter of luck with me to find a strong composition.

Laura,

Thanks.  And yellow is a difficult color for me to work with.  Oddly, I find myself going more towards yellow these days.  I think I am trying to conquer my fear of working with this powerful hue.

Ron,

Thanks.  Particularly for the honesty.  I often debate the merits of borders. Sometimes I feel borders are useful to extend the artistic expression, sometimes they detract.  This image I felt needed confinement - yellow seems to over-power.  I think you are in the majority; it seems many PN member don't smile on borders.

Wayne,

First, I wish to commend you on ALL of you images (not just macro).  Stunning IMO.

I especially like this one.  Detail, dof etc. are spot on as expected.  IMO I don't agree with Ron's comment on this one. I usually don't like (or use) borders.  However, in this case I believe it really works.  IMO it puts the composition back "in synch".  The antennae would appear too close to the edge except for the border.

In any case, I love the shot.

Thanks for sharing...
