michaellinder 16,612 Posted October 14, 2014 I must begin by emphasizing the fact that I am not an expert photographer. I am an amateur still on my own quest to produce better images. Please accept my comments below as my attempt to be constructive and helpful. Obviously you took this photograph under foggy and low light conditions. This may account for the poor image quality. However, I am confident that, at the very least, you could reduce the noise, which is quite noticeable in the sky. Secondly, the image has practically no detail; it needs some sharpening. Thirdly, the colors are dull and uninteresting - boosting the saturation might help. Finally, the composition would benefit by eliminating the pink object on the left; probably cropping would work. For whatever it's worth, I'm going to attempt to demonstrate how the image can be improved. The revised version will be posted below. Link to comment
michaellinder 16,612 Posted October 14, 2014 I didn't do as well as I would have hoped. My downfall was the amount of noise in the sky. I tried removing all of it, but this resulted in almost a total lack of detail. My guess is you must have used a slow shutter speed with a wide open aperture and a high sensitivity setting. In any case, after the noise reduction, I cropped the image on the left and bottom. I then brightened the entire frame and increased the color saturation. I couldn't sharpen it much more than the original, again because of the noise issue. Hopefully, this exercise has been of assistance. Link to comment
