I have just the opposite take on the light pole. This appears to be a drive by shot. The blurred light pole gives us the feeling of a contemporary tableau glimpsed rather than composed, a passing scene that caught your eye and that you caught in turn. There is a sense of unstudied immediacy to the picture. It manages to preserve a selected moment that feels almost random but which carries within it the DNA of a particular time.

Definitely random and unstudied, Jack. . .

It is a perspective from a single point in space-time, nothing more--and nothing worth even slowing down for.  Yet, yet, for the individuals captured here, it was something.

Note: Shots in this folder were made hand-held, most of them from the car as I drove across town just after sunset on September 20, 2014, "The Last Saturday of Summer, 2014."

Most were not made while the car was in motion.

A few shots at the end of this series were made as I was walking around outside the car.
