Jack McRitchie 150 Posted October 3, 2014 Superb. A classic image masterfully presented in black and white. This is ageless in its composition and essential humanity. Link to comment
charo 3 Posted October 4, 2014 A very interesting image Michail. I like the black and white, the attitude of the children and the play of light and shadow (which is amazing here). Only I would like to know the story behind the picture.Kind Regards,Rosario. Link to comment
Karl Schuler 48 Posted October 4, 2014 Outstanding, the attention, the light and the composition. Better than the color photo of the same frame. Karl Link to comment
M_Lipakis 3 Posted October 4, 2014 Jack, Rosario, Karl and Dani thank you so much for your comments.Nothing much of a story though Rosario. This is a room of a Cretan folk tradition and ethnology museum recreating a typical class room of the sixties. I myself can still smell thease wooden desks from that time. When we entered the room all the kids run to take their "natural" places on the old desks, so i asked my wife to play the teacher... (see next photo in gallery) or http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=17768588My little daughter was in the proccess of learning arithmetics so she used her figers for some help. Thanks again. yecon 0 Posted October 4, 2014 This one conveys some sort of vintage mood but what I mostly like here Mike is the manner you have handled light. The smoothly decreasing intensity of light from the foreground to the background, carefully controlled so as to preserve detail throughout the whole image, is very impressive! Like the kids' expressions, also. They all seem so focused and eager to learn! Awesome presentation! Link to comment
wieslawmamon 0 Posted October 4, 2014 Like a journey to the past;-), B&w conversion enhances the beauty of light and brings out the texture of the desks and the wall in the background. A photo that stands out for its timeless quality, thank you for sharing. Link to comment
