Agree with Amy on the effectiveness of having that tree NOT casting the shadow of the lamppost. It makes one stop and think, has an element of surrealism without being overblown, and gives me a sense of visual substitution. There's a story in this graphical scene. And there's energy in the diagonal of the road.
A simple composition displaying your ability to look beyond the obvious and capture transient moments where everything seems to be in delicate and temporary balance.
I love these pieces where you don't see what's casting the shadows. They always make me do a double-take. Love the composition you've chosen here. Very nice.

many thanks for your comments! My eyes continue to be attracted by the way how light & shadows change the appearance of things.
I've spent a week in the countryside where broadband internet connectivity is limited - therefore my slightly delayed answer (not that I'm quick in replying otherwise, just this time I have better excuse ;-)).
