andresfaya 0 Posted September 27, 2014 I like the composition and the concept of the lonely traveler arriving from a long distance (big case and long platform).I think that if the focus were more on the traveler rather than on the train it could work even better. But of course, just an opinion. Link to comment
setsail728 15 Posted September 27, 2014 Ah ha! This shot was certainly not taken during rush hour!!! Nice to see the platform so empty. I don't know about you, but I can hear the echo of his footstep as he walks along in that cavernous station! Black and white just perfect! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted September 28, 2014 Great photo. I think it captures something very special and something much more than just what's in this moment. The leading lines of the train and platform serve as a sort of metaphor for coming and going, for past and future. His isolation on the platform can really be felt here, the darker tones dominating and shadowing his face, keeping his travels a mystery. There's a strong sense of atmosphere and place and work. There's an honesty in the ambiguity and uncertainty present. Though there could be a narrative reason for his being less in focus than the train (preserving that mystery), visually I agree that this would be better if he were in focus, the darkness providing enough mystery. Were he much more out of focus, it would be a different photo, but would also work, but as he is kind of just out of focus, it feels more like a misstep than an intentional expressive gesture.
