Elstad 5 Posted September 18, 2014 This is one of those exceedingly rare, for me, images that is just about the way it came out of the camera. Yikes! Thanks for the Look and the Write! best viewed large... Link to comment

jennifer_catron 0 Posted September 19, 2014 Shadows... Lighting is photography. You've got some strange shadows on the right eye, nose and left cheek. Not very flattering for this young lady. Link to comment
Elstad 5 Posted September 19, 2014 Don't be seduced by Beauty Jennifer. Art is not always beautiful. One of its functions is to induce a response in the viewer. It would seem that this one has done just that in you. If it exceeds your comfort level for what is 'proper' in portraiture, for me this is a very successful image indeed. Perhaps you should try transcending the bounds you put upon yourself in your imagery and what is acceptable. The position of my lights is not the normal one it is not and my intent was the noir effect that I achieved. Hard light, with no diffusion, creates hard shadows. The closer the light source, the harder the shadow.-r- Link to comment
michael_d_davis 0 Posted September 20, 2014 RaymondJennifer is spot on with her assessment of this photograph. If you can convince anyone that this art GOOD for you. However this site is called PHOTO.NET NOT ART.NETI understand the need or want to be different than other Photographers. However you cant dismiss every rule of photography on a photography website called PHOTO.NET with the justification of calling it art. Just my 2 cents Link to comment
Elstad 5 Posted September 20, 2014 Keep your pedantic rules for yourself Michael and create all the pedestrian imagery that your small mind desires. One must indeed know the rules of photography ere one breaks them with INTENT. I do and I do and I plan on continuing to do so. It is indeed called photo.net... not mundane photography dot net. not that i am he but Picasso has given us ALL the right to do as we damn well please with our art and this gives me permission to do as I will with my ART. You, not so kind sir, have the right to make all the traditionally boring snapshot photos that you wish. I do not, must not, do so. Art Is My Life. If that is difficult for you, look elsewhere for that which you seek. It is my hope that you won't find it here :=}Amusedly Yours,Raymond Link to comment
michael_d_davis 0 Posted September 20, 2014 RaymondI find it funny you want a reaction from people about your so called art but get very offensive when the reaction isn't what you want to hear. Picasso would ask you what the hell is this? So putting models in forced poses in unflattering light purposely breaking all the rules of Photography(rules that have worked very well) for millions of photographers all over the world. I SEE YOUR ABOVE ALL THE MASTERS OF PHOTOGRAPHY. Because you call it art. Link to comment
